Mental Health in Massachusetts at a Glance

Statistics from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) for Massachusetts  indicate  that nearly 1.1 million adults in the state – over 16% of the population – have a diagnosed mental health condition. Renewed Focus on Problem Gambling in Massachusetts

Research conducted by the Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health (MACGH) finds that approximately 8.4% of the state’s adult population are at-risk gamblers. These residents exhibit gambling behaviors that put them at risk of developing a gambling disorder. The transition from someone who is “at-risk” to having gambling disorder within the state is likely to accelerate through 2023 and beyond. Why? As of February 1 (2023) Massachusetts was added to the US States with Legal Sports Betting Map.
