“Operating under the philosophy of a collaborative, client-centered, and strengths-based approach, Ellis draws from various theoretical orientations, including Carl Rogers’s Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Behavioral Therapy. His clinical practice, spanning clients aged 5-70, specializes in addictions, mental health, family therapy, autism, PTSD, and military-related issues. The foundation of his therapeutic process lies in a comprehensive assessment encompassing Biological, Psychological, Social, and Behavioral dimensions, utilizing tools such as the DSM-5.


With a rich background in supervision, Ellis has supervised interns and practicum students, served as a Director of Guidance for eight years, and conducted group supervision at an adult rehabilitation center in Connecticut. For the past 18 years, he has maintained a private practice in North Carolina, demonstrating a dedication to continuous learning and professional development.


As a Clinical Supervisor, He employs an eclectic and developmental approach, fostering the exploration and development of each client’s unique needs. His commitment extends to weekly individual and group sessions, providing guidance on patients’ needs, applying theories, differential diagnoses, and ethical considerations. The emphasis on maintaining records in line with ethical guidelines and adhering to NCLCMHC standards underscores his dedication to ethical practice.
