Pornography Addiction Therapy in Louisiana

However, Louisiana was the very first U.S. state to enact a law that enforces adult sites to require users to upload state-issued ID to prove that they are of legal age to consume content. Louisiana Act 440 was introduced on January 1, 2023, and was followed by the passing of Louisiana HB 77 that brought the law into effect in August of the same year. Since then, an additional 18 U.S. states have followed suit. What about the percentage of residents who self-report as being porn addicts? Averaging the rates between males and females, an estimated 7% of adult Americans struggle with problem porn use. This indicates that more than 252,000 residents in Louisiana experience issues with responsible porn use. This rate or problem use is even higher among certain population segments. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) reports that 47.5% of LA residents have anxiety or depression – almost half of the population. Anxiety and depression both cooccur in people who have a complicated relationship with porn. Furthermore, Louisiana joins the rest of the United States in sharing the following statistics:

• 9% of porn consumers are unable to stop on their own ( source )
• 11% of American men and 3% of women self-report that they are addicted to pornography ( source )
• More than 30% of surveyed companies have terminated employees for
  inappropriate use of the Internet, including porn consumption ( source )
• 93% of males and 62% of females are exposed to online pornography during their teenage years (source).
